About me
With over 20 years of experience, Jennifer brings an assorted spectrum of skills with her background working in health and wellness, community engagement, education, marketing, and event/program planning for corporations, non-profit organizations, and the public sector. At the heart of her career is a consistent commitment to fostering health and well-being, nurturing creativity, and driving positive social impact. Shaped by both personal and professional experiences, she is dedicated to advancing the integration of arts and health through education, research, and practice. Her passion lies in developing and advancing programs that harness the therapeutic benefits of expressive arts and mindfulness practices, grounded in evidence-based research to meaningfully improve health outcomes.
Currently, she works as the Special Projects Consultant for California for the Arts in developing the Arts & Health Initiative and Arts Advocacy Day Captains Corps program. She's also a contributor to research projects with the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine and other projects for Playtronus LLC. Additionally, she serves as the Los Angeles Chapter Chair for Sisters in Public Health and Chair for the Arts in Public Health Working Group with Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities (a2ru).
Her current work focuses on advancing the inclusion of arts participation within health policy—positioning access to arts and cultural opportunities as both a health indicator and a health-promoting behavior, and advocating for its recognition within the social determinants (or “drivers”) of health. She is also exploring pathways to develop pilot arts prescribing programs in community and school-based settings in partnership with healthcare and community organizations.
