In this session, we will explore how fire behaves within a structure and look to understand how it affects common collections materials. We will examine basic ways to salvage and then triage art and artifacts that have been affected by a fire. Fire health hazards that rescue crews should be aware of will also be covered. We will look at fire prevention methods and techniques to help stop fires from happening or slow a fire from spreading. Finally we will discuss how to build a rapport with your local fire department and create joint training opportunities between them and the institution's staff.
